The Eola Amity Hills are influenced by maritime breezes funneled through the Van Duzer Corridor (a gap in the Coast Range that separates the Willamette Valley and the Pacific Ocean). The predominantly Nekia volcanic soils we work with yield dark blue fruits, bright acidity, and firm structure.
We source our Eola Amity Pinot Noir from one of the best sites in the AVA: Zena Crown Vineyard (450 feet). Zena Crown was planted in 2004 to the Dijon 667 clone of Pinot Noir and is today LIVE Certified and farmed by Ken Kupperman, who manages about 1,000 acres for the Jackson Family here in Oregon. Ken is considered one of the best vineyard managers in Oregon, most recently farming for Wente in CA before moving to Oregon in 2007. The vine density at Zena Crown is some of the highest we work with (2,300 vines/acre).
To understand our label design, imagine yourself standing at our estate property (Mineral Springs Ranch). If you were to point this bottle North, the marked line on the label would lead you to the vineyard we sourced from -- like a compass. Furthermore, the noted GPS coordinates are those of Zena Crown Vineyard.
